    Weeping and Rejoicing

It's amazing how much can happen in one evening. Or one month for that matter.

Sorry it's been so long. I guess I'll bring you up to speed on the things that have happened in the past two months. Uvalde was awesome! Through VBS we had 10 children accept Jesus as their savior. It was incredible.

On July 26th I got to fly up to NE to see my old friends, and my oldest brother and his fam. It was really fun. I stayed up there for 2 weeks and got to see a bunch of people I hadn't talked to in a long time. I was nice to go back to the place I practically grew up. I know that I'm where God want's be to be at this point in my life, but I can't help but miss living up there. After getting back from NE on the 9th not too much happened in Aug. Besides my b-day, and school starting (on the same day). I got a cool new 4GB Sansa Fuse MP3 player. (I sound so technical but that's pretty much all I know about it...lol)

OH big news I forgot to tell you about. After we got back from Uvalde (the very night actually) my bro and his wife showed up (met us at the church when we arrived) to tell us that they're going to have a baby!!! It's due in March, we still don't know boy or girl, but I think we will in a couple of weeks. It's so exciting I'm going to have a 3rd niece or nephew and nearby! I left my other two nephews in NE.

So after school started at the end of Aug. Not a whole lot has happened until recently. Not only have we officially started an AWANA program (which is an awesome Bible program for kids K-6th grade), but we also were contacted by a potential youth leader named, and I'm serious, Jon Adams. lol. And after my pastor talked to him, he brought him to the youth search committee (which I happen to be on) and we interviewed him, and everyone liked him, so today he came in view of a call, and the church unanimously voted him as our youth minister. He won't take complete control of the group now that we have a youth council, but he will come in alongside that program and become a mentor and friend to the youth in the church, which has doubled in the past 2 months. Instead of just being 4 youth, counting the 2 pastors kids, one other jr. higher, and me. We've now doubled that. Sometimes more than doubled. It's amazing how God works. He starts growth in a youth group that doesn't really have anything going, gives us resources to start a new Wed. night Bible study, and then after all of that is in place he brings to us someone to lead it. It's awesome! God is really moving in our church.

Then tonight after all of the excitement of getting a new youth pastor, a very unfortunate thing happened. Our pastor's wife got a call that her 24 y/o cousin who had just come for a  visit from S.C. was hit by a car while walking in front of the grocery store tonight, and didn't make it to the hospital. Please be keeping my Pastor's family in your prayers. They are a VERY close family and this is the second loss in the past couple of months. I can't even begin to imagine what they must be going through.

Romans 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Tonight I will rejoice over the fact that our church is growing, and I will weep and pray for a friend's loss.

Well, I suppose I should sign off for the night. God bless you.

  • Mission Uvalde

    Hey All,
We leave tomorrow at 2 for our Uvalde Mission trip. I'm really excited about going. Though these past couple of weeks have been crazy! I pray that everything will go smoothly. We have a 4 hour trip down there, and will be gone until Wednesday. One of our main concerns is fitting everything and everybody in 2 vehicles and 1 trailer. We have 14 leaving with us tomorrow (thats counting my fam) and 2 more that will join us down there on Sunday. I've been put in charge of a lot of stuff for this trip. Here's all that I have to do in the order that I have to do them. Sunday night I am in charge of the skit that we the youth are doing. Basically I'm the one who helps people know what their supposed to do and I also play the lead. I'm also in charge of the props. (I'll try to post a vid of the skit we're doing. It won't actually be us, it will be the vid that we learned everything from) Then after the skit when we're getting ready for bed me and Cody (one of the newer members of the youth group) are going to be leading the devotion for the night. Then on Monday morning I and Tim (Cody's step bro) are in charge of the Bible lesson at VBS that morning, and I also will help my dad lead the music. And finally on Wednesday morning during VBS while Bro. Stewart is teaching the older kids the plan of salvation, Cody and I will take the younger kids (4 yrs old- kindergarten) and do a puppet show. Only one of these things did I actually volinteer for. The others people just kind of said "She'll go first and the rest of you can take notes for when it's your turn the next day." While I'm sitting there hoping that someone else will go first for me to take notes from! lol. I'm fine with it all. I love helping and doing whatever I can with children. The only thing that I'm nervous about is the devotion time, but since I will have Cody to help me and I was given a guide I'm a little more comfortable. Though it's still a little awkward thinking about leading my pastor in a devotion. But I really think everything is going to work out great! I'm looking forward to this coming week. Be praying for us, that hearts will be reached and lives will be changed, and that each of us will learn something new to take back with us. And that we will all be even closer to God than when we left.

Well, I should go to bed now. I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. As always, God bless.

  • Having A Blast

Well, VBS started Sunday. It's been going really well so far, though my week has been completely thrown off by it! lol. Today feels like Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Tonight was our evangelism night and in total we had 12 kids pray and ask God into their hearts. 8 of them were in my group! (that's more than half of my group, I had 14 kids tonight) We did something a little different this year and I think it worked out really well. We combined the 2nd-3rd grade class (my class) with the 4th-5th grade class and my pastor talked to them about salvation. It was really cool to see how he presented it to them. It was really a hands on full participation thing. In a way I see how God used me in that, through my asking the pastor to talk to my group as well this year. Normally he just talks to the 4th and 5th graders. It was really awesome! We have 2 more days to go and then on Friday my youth group will be headed to Youth Evangelism Conference in Dallas. We'll get back from there on Saturday where we will then have 1 week before we head out on our mission trip to Uvalde. We'll be leading a 3 day VBS, help work on the church they're building, and possibly do some door-to-door evangelism. We'll be there from the 5th-9th of July. THEN...2 weeks after that I'm headed to Nebraska!!! EXCITEMENT!!! WOOHOO!!! OK I'm through now. lol. Needless to say my summer is already packed full. Lots of fun! So far things have been going great. God is so good, isn't He?

Well anyway, I should go for now. I'll talk to y'all later. God bless.

  • I got my learners permit today!!!

Finally after months of reading and re-reading and procrastinating, I took my test today and passed! Now I get to learn how to drive for 6 months before I can get my license. A lot later than I had originally wanted, but still pretty cool. There were only 5 questions out of about 40 that I got wrong. I'd like to think that's pretty good. It was obviously enough to pass and that's what counts. (burst of excitement in 3...2...1...) YEY! YIPEE! YAHOO! (mail?) WOOHOO! Okay, I'm done. lol.

In other news. VBS is just 3 weeks away. For the most part I think I've got everything ready. I need to get with my assistant teacher to make sure we're on the same page with everything. I'm looking forward to teaching with her. I guess I'm mostly looking forward to working with the kids. It's going to be a blast! Then the weekend after that is the Youth Evangelism Conference (aka) YEC in Dallas. I'm looking forward to going to that too. Hopefully we'll be able to get some more of the youth who come to church to come with us. It's always fun to go to that.

Then on July 26th I'm going to be flying up to NE! I'm gonna go see my bro and his family along with a bunch of my other friends that I have up there. It should be a lot of fun. I'm going to be up there for 2 weeks and then I'll be home to start up the school year again. My senior year!!! Yikes, that's scary to say! The time has just flown by it seems. The fact that we're already into the first week in June shocks me. It's crazy.

OK, well I'd better go. I'll ttyl. God bless.

  • The Movie Star

    Hey All,
Sorry I haven't been blogging a lot lately. No excuse for it accept laziness. Again sorry.

Things here have been good. I've been staying busy trying to keep up with school, church and other miscellaneous activities. Yesterday was my church's 10 year anniversary, and thanks to a slide show I have now been dubbed the "Movie Star." The song was the theme to Gilligan's Island and when the lyrics were listing off the cast a picture of me from Christmas was shown right when they said "A movie star." lol. The rest of the day that's what I was called. I'm going to attempt to scan the picture and put it on here so that you can see what they meant. We'll see if I can figure out how in the world to use the scanner. lol. It's new and I haven't used that feature yet. I've gotten my hair cut since that picture was taken but it's pretty much the same length now just not layered.

Today I baby sat again, I've been baby sitting this little boy every Monday for about 8 months now. Wow, it doesn't seem like it's been that long! How time flies. It's not fair! This will be my last summer as a high school student. A scary fact to think about. I'm not planning on going to college right away...I don't have the money for it. I do hope however to go somewhere within 2 or 3 years from now. To get a full time job after I graduate and save and scrimp every penny I make so that I will be able to at least pay for one semester. No use worrying about that now though. "Borrowing trouble" as it's called. It's just not worth the stress. Besides, I still have no idea where I'm going to go. There are some possibilities to be sure, but I just don't know exactly where God wants me to go. The one I've looked into the most is a long ways away and my mom and dad aren't too happy with that possibility, though they say that they'll be open to it if that's where I feel the Lord is leading me. The future is still unknown, just like it always seems to be.

V.B.S. plans are going good. I haven't done a whole lot of preparation yet, but that's one of the things on my agenda for tomorrow, to work on at least the first day. Along with get plenty of sleep. The past few nights I haven't been going to bed early. hmmph...when do I ever go to bed early?! But it's not just the going to bed early, it's the early mornings that follow that get me. lol. My own fault I know.

So anyway, that's some of what I've been up to lately. I'll write more later. God bless.

  • Aloha...Oy!

    Hello All,
Sorry it's been so long since I last wrote. I've been keeping busy with school and church activities. Having as much fun as I can as usual. Lately I've been spring cleaning my room and trying to get things into some semblance of order. It's hard because of how small my room is and how much stuff I try to put in it. lol. My bookshelf is overflowing onto the floor, and it's not because they're not sitting right. It's because of how many I have. It's not pretty. lol.

Today was my first day getting back into the school routine since last week was spring break. It was nice taking a break and "regrouping" from school. Now it's time to start hitting it full force to get it done. Along with Drivers Ed. Which I've been procrastinating on for the past year. I honestly don't know why. I just haven't been working on it like I should. I'm hoping (key word) to get my permit in about a month, but we'll just have to see.

Today I was also looking at the V.B.S. curriculum that we're going to use this year. It's Hawaiian themed, which I think is really cool! It's called Outrigger Island and the theme verse is Psalm 86:11. I am going to be teaching the 2nd and 3rd graders along with the pastor's daughter Rachel. She asked me to teach with her a few weeks before we had the planning meeting. I'm really looking forward to it. This will be the second year I've co-taught this class. Last year I taught with the Pastor's son and it went really well, I'm hoping this year goes well too. Be praying for Rachel though, she broke her ankle while jumping on a trampoline on Friday.

Well, I suppose I should go for now. I'll try to write again soon. God bless.

  • I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged for this meme by http://www.xanga.com/Hillsfam

    Here are the rules:

    (1) Link to the person that tagged you.
    (2) Post the rules on your blog.
    (3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
    (4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
    (5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

    Here goes...

    1. I love music. Christian music to be exact. In the mornings when I get up, especially if its early, I like to turn on  my radio to the local Christian station and sing along with the songs I know, sometimes even the ones I don't. I love to sing praise songs and if its got a nice beat I can even be caught dancing (badly I might add) to the song. I have found that if I go without listening to music my day goes downhill and I end up crabby. I just love to sing uplifting songs that remind me of Gods love. I like all different styles with the exception of a few. I draw the line at heavy metal and death rock..and all other styles of music that make you wonder what in the world they're screaming at you.

    2. I love to listen to the things that little children come up with. Things like their make believe pet dragon being so hungry that he ate the whole world, or talking about dropping a piano on Popeye before he can eat his spinach. (don't ask) My favorite thing about children is their innocents, their forgiveness, and their trust in things that they don't understand.

    3. I've read 4 full length books in 2 weeks. In case you didn't know, I love to read. Right now I'm reading Jane Austen's Emma. Its a good book. Though at times it can be confusing because of the difference in how they talked then to now.

    4. I'm very involved at my church. I help wherever I'm needed. Last Sunday I even helped my dad sing during the invitation. I love to work with the children, and serve in/with the youth. I go every Saturday with the Donahoo's visiting, inviting children and their families to come to church.

    5. I love being with friends. Playing games, talking, just hanging out doing whatever. Friends are important to me. I would never be one to be back stabbing or hurtful on purpose. I try to be kind and generous to everyone.

    6. I love to be outdoors in the country. To go walking in a field where its quiet and the only thing you hear are birds and other outdoor creatures. I sometimes feel stifled living in town. Not being able to go outside and see for miles. I feel almost trapped by the fenced in yards and the constant noise of cars and dogs. I used to love to just sit and feel completely at ease in the wide open area. To just think and not worry about being watched or hearing a siren go off. Now my only escape is my room. Which is the complete opposite of being outside. Needless to say my room is small.

    Now I'll tag some others...

  • Please Pray

Please be praying for my brother and sister-in-law. He called this afternoon and told us that they had a miscarriage. I feel so bad for them. I can't say that I know what they're going through but I understand how hard it can be to be so close to having something and then it be taken away from your grasp. The one blessing I find in this is she wasn't very far along to have grown too attached. Its still such a loss. Just pray for God to help them move forward through this.

    (Ecc 3:1-4 KJV)  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

  • I'm A Bug Again

OK todays excitement is a whole lot more than yesterdays! I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT AGAIN! My bro MrRious just called, at 11 p.m. right as everyone was going to bed, and told us! My mom is talking to him right now! I'm overly excited right now...I'm about to start jumping up and down squealing!! I'm holding it at bay so that I can listen in on my moms side of the conversation. lol.

In explanation to the title, when I was a toddler my dads sister was coming to visit us and they kept telling me that my Aunt Debra was coming and when we went to the airport to pick her up I gave her the name by which she has gone since then. "Debra Bug" to me when my parents said Aunt they meant ant so she was obviously a bug. So the way that my bro tells me that he's going to be a daddy he says that I'm going to be a "bug" again. This is their first and I could tell in his voice the excitement he is feeling. He's always been a good big brother, even when I was little and I thought he was mean. He's always cared for and protected me. He didn't baby me like our oldest brother did, but he taught me that no meant no. lol. He was always stubborn. But it would seem that no matter how stubborn he is God has different plans. You see he and his wife had planned to wait 5 years before they had kids. Ha ha...God obviously had a different idea. lol.

OK so my excitement is bubbling over! I'm so HAPPY! YEY!!! What a wonderful end to an exhausting day of babysitting. lol. I will cast my vote in for a little girl...I already have 2 nephews, its time for a niece! But whatever it is I will spoil that baby to my brothers aggravation. Hey, I'm allowed to aggravate him...I am a little sister aren't I?

Alright, I'm going to sign off now...I have to try to calm down enough to sleep. lol. God bless!

  • Cell Phone

I excited today because I'm going to be getting a new cell phone for free! The phone that I have is no longer going to work in my area because the Tracfone company that I get my service from is upgrading their towers. The other day I received a message from them telling me to contact them to receive a new phone. I will hopefully be getting it in 5 to 10 days! The real exciting part is that the phones that they have listed on there site that are supposed to work here are a LOT nicer than the one I have now. I mean my phone now doesn't even have a color screen, it just has a lime green back light. In comparison to the newer phones that are out there my current one is pretty lame. lol. Honestly I can't complain too much because it was cheap to get when I was in need of a cell phone for work, and it has worked for the purpose I got it for. It came in handy a few times for my mom before she got her new Razor. I'm hoping that this new phone will work just as well and not just be a piece of junk. lol. That would be disappointing.

So thats my exciting news for the day. What's new with y'all?

    God bless,

About Me

  • I am a Christian following God's will for my life by exploring what it means to be a missionary. I am one of the 2nd-3rd grade VBS teachers. I enjoy singing specials in church and love working with little kids. Sometimes I am a fill in Sunday School teacher for the 1st-3rd grade class.

Memory Verse(s)

Matt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
